What age groups do you teach?
Lessons are open to ages 7 and up. For students under 18, a parent or guardian must be present in the home during the session.
Do I need my own sewing machine?
Yes, all students are expected to have their own sewing machine. If you're not sure how to use it yet—that’s exactly what the Beginner Basics session is for!
What supplies do I need to bring?
After you book, you’ll receive a personalized supply list based on your session type. Most lists include thread, fabric, pins, and scissors—simple tools you may already have at home.
I’m not a beginner, but I’m not advanced either. Which session should I choose?
The Project-Focused Lesson is perfect for you. It meets you where you are and supports your next creative milestone—whether that’s learning zippers or building your first garment.
Do you teach serger machines too?
Yes! Serger basics, threading, and tips are included in the Beginner Basics and Skill Mastery sessions when applicable. Just let us know in your intake form.
Can I book multiple sessions at once?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to book one session at a time or purchase a 3- or 6-session bundle for ongoing support. Package rates are listed on the booking page.
What if I just have a quick question? Can I call or text?
Ongoing support is offered through Sewing Support Calls—a 20-minute virtual session for light troubleshooting and guidance. These can be booked directly through the site. To maintain focus during lessons and protect everyone's time, text and phone support is not available outside of scheduled appointments.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancellations or reschedules must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Missed appointments without notice may forfeit the session. Emergencies will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Do you travel outside the DMV area?
At this time, travel is included within 50 miles of Bowie, MD. For requests outside of that range, a travel fee may apply or a virtual session may be recommended.
Do you offer group classes or parties?
Not at the moment—but private sewing events or creative workshops may be offered in the future. Stay tuned or reach out with your ideas!
How do I prepare for my first session?
Once you book, you’ll receive a welcome email with your materials list, location confirmation, and what to expect. You’ll be fully prepped before we begin!
Do you teach pattern making or tailoring?
Yes! These topics are part of the Skill Mastery sessions. Whether you're learning to alter store-bought patterns or draft your own, that session is designed to guide you through more advanced techniques.
